Point of Sale Transition for FUSE Maker Space

🏁 On this episode of Weekly Wins at iComm Studios: We transition our partners at Central New Mexico Community College to a new WooCommerce-friendly POS system.

FUSE Makerspace is a creative space to learn skills, explore diverse toolsets, and fabrication techniques to build your next big idea. FUSE asked that we find a replacement for their WooCommerce POS system, so we began testing potential alternatives.

Once we identified and tested a suitable replacement, the next step was to coordinate a quick and smooth transition with minimal impact to FUSE. This project presented two unique hurdles because, 1) there’s rarely a good time to disable online sales and 2) We could not have both POS systems activated at the same time.

We analyzed the site’s traffic and found that our window of opportunity was late Friday into Saturday. Thanks to solid planning, communication, and team execution, the transition went very well with ZERO downtime. Kudos to the iComm team and thanks to Central New Mexico Community College and FUSE Maker Space for trusting us with this project!
