With much pride and excitement we launch the newest version of iCommStudios.com! This has been in the works for quite some time and we are extremely happy to finally see it realized on the web. With that being said, let’s take a look under the hood and allow us to explain what we decided to bake into version 2.0.
Mobile First! We purposely waited until Bootstrap 3 was released so we could take advantage of one of the most robust frameworks available. Bootstrap is responsive, mobile-first and chalked full of a lot of other features that made it our clear choice for framework. That means our website is mobile optimized and we progressively enhance the layout as the screen becomes wider. This allows our website to be as flexible as possible and to adapt to any screen size.
Retina Ready! Version 2.0 boasts svg or compressed svgz graphics where possible, which make us retina-ready and gives us crystal clear graphics! We felt that vector graphics were the best option because they provide the highest quality and the smallest file size. All other icons hail from FontAwesome, which provide high quality svg icons packaged neatly in an embeddable font. We also have fallbacks in place that display png image versions for any browser that doesn’t support svg.
Compressed & Minified! We kept everything as lightweight as possible by minifying and compressing all javascript, CSS and images as well as linking to externally hosted resources instead of hosting those on our server. We have the site loading in under 2 secs!
